Apple Watch: How to switch it to a new iPhone
Recently upgraded to a new iPhone? Want to pair your Apple Watch with it? Here’s how to do it.
Switch your Apple Watch to a new iPhone
If you want to use a new iPhone with your Apple Watch, you can transfer your Apple Watch and its contents to a new iPhone.
1. Update your old iPhone
Before you switch your Apple Watch from your old iPhone to a new iPhone, update your old iPhone to the latest version of iOS. After you update to the latest version of iOS and watchOS, go to the Home screen on both your Apple Watch and iPhone at the same time.
If you already erased your old iPhone or no longer have it, you can get help.
2. Back up your old iPhone
Use these steps to create an iCloud backup of your old iPhone. If you use iTunes, remember to encrypt your backup to save your Health and Activity content.
If you don’t have your old iPhone, continue to the next step and use your most recent backup.
3. Set up your new iPhone
Here’s how to set up. When asked if you have an iCloud or iTunes backup, choose your most recent backup to restore your data from your old device to your new device.
During setup, keep your Apple Watch close to your new iPhone. When your iPhone asks if you want to use your Apple Watch, tap Continue.
After setup, you can start using your Apple Watch with your new iPhone.
