HELP! Why does my iPhone keep crashing?
You’re watching cat videos on YouTube when suddenly your iPhone crashed on you. What do you do? Here’s some help.
Why is my iPhone crashing so much?
There are a lot of reasons that an iPhone might freeze and crash and it always ends up being a disaster for any user. What if you’re in the middle of some important calls and your iPhone crashed? Calm down, below are some of the remedies for crashing iPhones.
How do I get my iPhone to stop crashing?
Upgrade iOS when a new update is available by tapping “Settings,” “General” and then “Software Update.” When an update is available, you will see the number “1” on the Settings icon on the home screen.
Update your apps regularly. App updates often include fixes to new bugs that could cause the app or the iPhone itself to crash. Launch the “App Store” from the iPhone home screen, and then tap the “Updates” button in the bottom right corner. You can update apps one at a time by tapping each “Update” button or update them all by tapping the “Update All” button at the top of the screen.
Delete a problematic app that freezes or crashes when you launch it. Touch and hold the app’s icon on the home screen until it begins to shake and then tap the red “X” that appears in the corner of the icon. Tap “Delete” when the confirmation message appears and then tap the Home button. You can reinstall the app from the App Store without being charged again, or reinstall the app when you sync to iTunes on your computer.
Delete unwanted apps, music, photos and video files from the iPhone to clear up space on the iPhone’s drive. To see which apps or media take up the most space, tap “Settings,” then “General” and then “Usage.” The Storage section shows how much space you have available. Apps taking up the most space are listed in order of their size. Select an app to see additional details, or to delete the app from this screen.
Restart your iPhone before launching large apps or those that require a lot of memory, such as graphics-intensive games. This often improves the speed and performance of the app even if it doesn’t crash. To restart the iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and then swipe the red “Slider” that appears on the screen. After the screen goes black, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears and then wait for the lock screen to reappear.
Delete an app from the iPhone’s memory if it crashes or becomes slow when using it. Click the Home button to go to the home screen and then double-tap the Home button again. Touch and hold the app when it appears at the bottom of the home screen. Tap the red “-” button to remove the app from the iPhone’s memory. Click the Home button twice to go back to the home screen and then relaunch the app.
Restore the iPhone if you find it freezes or crashes often. Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. Click the “Restore” button. Back up the iPhone’s data as prompted. After the iPhone is restored to its factory default values, you are prompted to restore the data you backed up.
