Catching Pokemon with a real Pokeball in Pokemon GO
Why not? If you got some electronics knowledge, an Arduino and a passion for Pokemon GO then you’re all set to make your own real Pokeball. Here’s a story.
Marcus Johansson has made a real Pokeball prototype to catch Pokemon in Pokemon GO. He may have thought that flicking your finger to catch some augmented real monsters is less cool compared to flinging a real-life Pokeball. So with the latest Pokemon game, he mocked up a design that would enable him just that.
What is the Arduino Pokeball?
The Arduino Pokeball that Marcus created have an Arduino 101 board on it. The entire setup is enclosed in a protective casing that makes it safe for him to physically throw the ball to a pokemon and will then relayed back and imitated in the Pokemon GO app.
It uses the IMU or combination of two or more parts. These are the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and altimeter which can also be found inside any modern smartphone. In addition, it also uses the bluetooth capabilities of the Arduino 101.
How does it work?
Well, the IMU sensors track the correct location of the Pokeball, where it is and where it is headed. It also determines the orientation of the whole thing using the gyroscope. Once the ball is thrown, the entire action is then fed back to the smartphone via bluetooth tricking the Pokemon GO app that it is a regular flicking motion.
That\’s one for your Pokemon battle tips list.
The Pokemon official game is now released in Asia. China, India and Korea is up for the next release of the game.
The Pokemon GO has made itself as one of the greatest game of all time alongside Candy Crush, Clash Royale and Flappy Bird. How did it fare after a month?
According to Sensor Tower, an app analytic, Pokemon GO has amassed an estimated $200 million in net revenue from the player statistics that it gathered. This is while bugs and feature complaints are still causing a decent amount of negativity among users, Pokémon Go continues its upward trajectory in terms of overall revenue.
The big in-app purchases was a big factor that contributed to this good figures. The Pokemon has good star power that it doubled the first month performance of Clash Royal, another huge big in-app performer of the year. This means a four times figure to the Candy Crush Soda Saga within its own 1 month availability.
The biggest, by far, according to the data from Sensor Tower is an important point to consider when trying to evaluate the game’s future revenue potential: Pokémon Go experienced a huge spike in revenue generation in mid-July – the day when it launched in Japan.
Japan is the home of the Pokemon franchise and the site of the most projected number of loyal fan base that will turn out to be players of the game. Another boost to this overwhelming success of Pokemon Go is its addition o 15 new Asian countries on their list. Korea, India and China is still not on this equation. This makes Niantic optimistic that a larger gap will happen for Pokemon GO’s competitors.
It’s serious business now. Pokemon GO players are one of the most power hungry users around. With the rise of Pokemon GO gave rise to powerbank sales.
According to The NDP Group, battery pack sales doubled in the US during the estimated two weeks that followed the debut of Pokemon GO. That’s a lot of battery powerbanks needed to consistently play Pokemon GO! It reports seeing a year over year 101% growth. That’s 1.2 million powerbank units being sold between July 10 and 23 ever since July 6, the game’s official release.
Pokémon Go really seems to be the only explanation here. NPD notes that while battery pack sales have generally been increasing from 2015, sales were only up 4 percent in the weeks prior to the game’s release. So Pokémon Go very much seems to be what triggered it. The custom Pokéball batteries that popped up may have helped, too.
The question now is how battery packs — and Pokémon Go — will fair in the weeks ahead. It’s not outrageous to assume that the Pokémon Go phenomenon will fade with time, and battery pack sales are likely to go down along with it. How soon will that happen? Niantic still has most of the world to roll the game out to, but it’ll want to do that without annoying existing players too much.
As Pokemon GO was released many have been all over the internet and forums as to how to play the game. Enough for that, let’s point out what beginners do wrong.
I’m speaking from first hand experience and actually encountered these problems, so all of the points in this article are based on my own opinion. Any recommendations from my fellow Pokemon GO trainers would be nice since I myself, I believe, is playing the game wrong.
At first glance, Pokemon GO is a fairly simple mobile game, the user interface was overhauled with some smart menu locations that pops in and out of sight whenever you need them. It’s user-friendly in the simplest sense of the word. If you haven’t been a huge mobile gamer before, then maybe it won’t be hard for you to understand the gameflow.
So, in order to play Pokemon GO, you need to know some Pokemon tips. All of these are essential skills or very important to even appreciate the real essence of the game. And most people are doing it wrong the first time. Oftentimes, they get frustrated with not only the glitches but with all the confusion they encounter with playing the game without prior knowledge on how to play it.
Try to be more of an Outdoor Person
Yes, I’ve been a very avid gamer ever since I learned to smash commands on the keyboard, touch screen or controller. However, these games are played mostly on the couch or the computer chair. Pokemon GO is not like that. Not even like the most addictive Flappy Bird that you can play on the bus or even standing still on a single spot.
If you want to be play Pokemon GO and be good at it, then you should try to be more optimistic about going outdoors for some action. Walk or bike. Okay, if you can use your car if you really want that but walking alone or much better, with some buddies will be good for your Pokemon GO points and of course, your health.
Get a power bank
Who’s guilty of running out of power while going outside finding PokeStops? A dead battery means you can’t even call someone to pick you up if you really strayed too far away from your neighborhood. Shady places, if you are aware of it, are kind of dangerous to Pokemon trainers. So a good source of battery power is recommended if you want a marathon Pokemon GO goodness.
Just get a power bank, a power case, a long extension cable (just kidding) or just find a charging station like some local coffee shops to recharge your battery. Follow this tip and thank me later. You don’t want to catch a Pokemon Rattata and suddenly you’re smartphone died.
Get a good connection for GPS
Okay, it’s easy to do this. Just find a good service provider that can give you that much reliable connection. But for the rebels who want free stuffs, have you tried the mall? Yes, the malls. They are good for Pokemon GO players for several reasons. Most of the malls have free Wi-Fi, use this to your advantage. Wi-Fi is much better and faster compared to mobile connection from your sim card. This in turn gives less latency and faster tracking of any Pokemon that you may potentially catch.
If for some reason your GPS signal is not found and it’s more than 5 minutes and it still has not regained connection, here’s a solution for that. Stop at a certain spot, just close the Pokemon GO app, open it again to reset your GPS location. Niantic still haven’t solved the server issues so it’s not just you buddy, don’t go quit rage and throw your smartphone to the void.
Go to the malls (or any public place)
Here’s the trick. Don’t just roam around your subdivision looking for Pokemon or PokeStops, go to the mall and other popular places. There’s some reason for that if you haven’t noticed the maps. These places have more PokeStops than any other places and when you have more PokeStops, then you can roam around collecting more items and circle around the same area to harvest and harvest even more.
Another reason is it’s much safer. Relatively safer compared to, say, a deserted alley or any place where you might be mugged without anyone seeing. There’s some news about this so don’t be shocked. When you’re in a very crowded place, just make sure your smartphone won’t be snatched. If that happens, then that Pokemon GO experience will just be cut short for the meantime.
Have some lunch
Okay, Pokemon trainer we all know this. Walking takes more energy than just sitting. This is fairly common sense. You head out full then in the middle of nowhere, you get some rumbling in your stomach. It’s time to refuel. Grab something to eat and drink especially on a very hot day. We can be passionate about the game and forget that we can be vulnerable sometimes so my piece of advise is, recharge that phone and refill that empty stomach.
While playing Pokemon Go is very fun, getting sued for trespassing is not at all. Here’s some things to avoid to stay on the safe side.
Your friends from Sydney CBD Repair Centre wants you to be safe while you go out on a quest to catch some rare Pokemon and get gyms for yourself. So here\’s the things to think about to avoid being sued for something risky that you did while playing new Pokemon game.
1. Avoid getting hit by any moving traffic
According to most laws it is basically your fault if you are on your phone with the new Pokemon game tracking some rare Pokemon, then you are hit by oncoming traffic. No one will owe you anything since you are doing something of your own free will unless their actions or failure of duties contribute to your harm.
In short, you glued to your phone and ran over by a car is all on your own. Making Nintendo or Niantic Labs liable for your misfortune since disclaimers before the Pokemon app loads show players reminders not to take the risks that could harm anyone.
2. Avoid trespassing restricted places
Another common sense. Even in many Pokemon forum, this was a huge debate. Don\’t trespass to closed property, even public ones. Some parks and government offices are technically closed at some designated hours.
You can be a trespasser if you forced entry to a property, example hopping over a fence or breaking in locked gates. You\’d be responsible for any damage you caused while you were inside the property.
3. Zero liability from property owners
In connection to the second item, from any Pokemon forum still, is the property owner\’s liability to any harm that might happen to trespassers while they are inside prohibited site. The Pokemon latest game gains zero liability from the owner if any trespasser gets biten by a dog, get injured as they hop over a fence or harmed while getting out.
Pokemon Go have been receiving a lot of criticisms lately for not being able to communicate with the users of the game. Here’s the updates that started that.
Before the Pokevision was even taken down, Pokemon Go\’s developer Niantic have released some updates that most of the players think ruined their entire experience with the game. Now that Pokemon cheats from sites like the Pokevision is now down and unavailable, active players are now stuck with these updates from the official developers of the game.
Was this all good? See for yourself. The newest Pokemon game was drastically changed. with this one.
1. Updated Pokemon Go Trainer Page
The Pokemon Go trainer page now has menu options that bring out journal and customization.
Customization changes your avatar appearance from the uniforms they\’re wearing to gender options. Good thing is these uniforms depicts the three teams within the game: Mystic, Instinct and Valor.
Medals are more meaningful with the latest updates with information about the achievement each represents.
2. Updated Pokemon Menu
The Pokemon menu now got a new font with an added menu that gives options to favorite or transfer Pokemon. So gamers won\’t have to scroll down transfer Pokemon. And those favorite Pokemon can\’t be transferred, making the Pokedex safer.
3. No Tracking System
No more three step tracking system. This was the most controversial feature brought by the new update. Niantic stated that the tracking system didn\’t meet their product goals so they are on their way to fix it. However, as they fix the feature, players are left to find Pokemon on their own without any help. Not even from the Pokevision site that everyone loves.
4. Balanced Battle Moves
Balance changes comes with new moves. Damage per second scheme changes how the battle system works. Pokemon won\’t have to rely so much with their combat power to win a battle. Using the damager per second with the kind of attacks gives players a balanced ground to fight on.
Pokemon Go trainers now have options to use a higher damage per second Pokemon to fight a much stronger but slower to rejuvinate opponent.
Everything about Pokevision and why Niantic Took it Down
Niantic made it very clear that its inability to listen to the fans about the glitches as very apparent lately. Tracker and Pokevision are both down. What’s the deal?
Pokemon Go is the best mobile game probably yet for 2016 and one of the reasons why its so popular is the fan base that follows the brand in any form it takes. From Pokemon cards to Nintendo games to the latest mobile game – the Pokemon Go. The fan base is just enormous and with it some high demand for good service in part of the company.
However, Pokemon Go developer Niantic has been facing some real issues lately. One of which are the server issues and buggy tracking systems to find Pokemon within the game itself. In an ideal setting, Niantic should have addressed these problems with some patches to fix the glitches.
The fans wanted to make the game usable while they patiently wait for fixes for the game so they resorted to some Pokemon cheats like the Pokevision. This is a site that is not necessarily a cheat site but a tool to track Pokemons in the Pokemon Go map while the game is still in its buggy state.
Why did Niantic took down Pokevision?
Niantic didn\’t take this very well so some Pokemon news pointed out that the latest Pokemon Go updates did some bad things for the mobile game. Not only was the update for the game was bad but Pokevision was taken down with it.
The main reason is that Niantic are dissatisfied with how Pokevision is bypassing the game by offering some third party services and it will be a security threat.
The fans think this is outrageous and they felt betrayed. Social media outcry, some with negative reviews with the game, some even asks for refunds.
Here\’s some facts for Pokevision and with the service within the site down, it might be smart to know them.
What is Pokevision?
Pokevision is a Pokemon tracker/locator for the mobile game Pokemon Go. It uses the Niantic API to grab the location of all Pokemon near your (or your selected location) and display them on the map in real-time; this means if it is displayed on the map, you can go out and catch them! Note: Rarer Pokemon have a shorter appearance time so they might despawn; make sure to be quick and keep an eye on their timers!
How do I track Pokemon using Pokevision?
There are a few methods to scan for the location of Pokemon:
Click anywhere on the map to drop a location marker. After placing a marker, press scan to reveal Pokemon nearby.
Use the Search Bar to enter your location (or a location you wish to scan) and hit enter. You can then click Scan. If there are Pokemon nearby, they will display on the map along with their appearance time.
Are the Pokemon displayed actually there?
Yes, as long as the timer has not reached 0, the Pokemon are actually there and in real time.
How come I see some Pokemon in game but not on your map?
Pokemon that spawn due to lure/incense are not visible on our map since those pokemon are visible to only you.
Can I scan anywhere?
As long as it is an area where Pokemon Go is serviced, yes. Please keep in mind we have a small delay between scans so that requests do not spam the servers. Scans take around 5-15 seconds depending on the density of the area.
There is always a top priority when playing Pokemon Go: battery life. Players and users have gone around this priority with power banks but Gionee has another solution: bigger battery.
Playing Pokemon Go and your battery is running down to zero. It’s either you pick up a power bank and recharge your smartphone on the go or go back home and have some recharge done. There must be a better solution: a built in, bigger battery.
Gionee launched its new M6 and the M6 Plus in Beijing this week. The phones are pretty ordinary with unexceptional specs, like a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a headphone jack, and a MediaTek MT6755 eight-core processor. But they do each have one feature worth noting: massive batteries.
Gionee M6 – 5,000 mAh
Gionee M6 Plus – 6,020 mAh
This feature is not just useful for Pokemon Go or mobile gaming, this can also be a real great feature for any power user who wants endurance from their device.
Despite being the true home of Pocket Monsters, until today, Japanese fans weren’t able to download the smartphone phenomenon that is Pokemon Go. As rumored, Niantic Labs’ game launches in Pikachu’s homeland with a promotional tie-in with McDonald’s (it’s already offering Pokemon toys with its kids’ meals in anticipation) and the app maker says more sponsored locales and events are on their way.
Ingress, the location-based game that preceded Pokemon Go, ran multiple promotions with companies including McDonald’s and SoftBank in Japan — as well as Jamba Juice in the US. Expect see plenty more sponsored locations in Pokemon Go (well, gotta make some money when the app is free to download), but what exactly do the sponsored locations entail? The good news is that the tie-in doesn’t seem to change much at all — and could even be good news for some players.
It is, however, a substantial sponsorship. Typically, Pokestops (where you pick up items) and Gyms (where you battle other trainers) are centered around cultural points of interest — or just interesting things. The deal struck with McDonalds adds stops and gyms to the locations of almost all of its 3,600 restaurants. My local burger hole is a mere Pokestop, although according to Twitter, there are plenty of gyms to be found in the chain, too.
In a leaked email which resulted in a further delayed launch almost a month after Europe and the US, the company pointed out concerns over poor connectivity in McDonald’s restaurants, as well as people lingering without making any purchases. However, the ubiquitous chain claims that there will be places for users to develop and catch more Pokemon. Not everyone lives in a major city filled with landmarks and cultural curiosities, but there’s pretty much a McDonalds in every town in Japan.
Like Nintendo, McDonald’s has already seen its stock price buoyed following rumors of the collaboration, but whether people will actually choose to enter, pay for something, then capture or battle Pokemon remains to be seen. I stood outside to grab my Pokemon items — after all, there’s no faster way to undo all those calories burnt walking around on the hunt for a Psyduck than paying a visit to a fast-food establishment.
As what most of us know, especially the avid fans and followers of Pokemon, Japan was the home of Pokemon and most of its ideas. It came from the land of the rising sun and now it’s coming back home.
Japan is finally getting the Pokemon GO app. This was very ironic since the land of the rising sun was home of the Pokemon franchise and it\’s digital monsters. Even frustrating for our Jap friends is the slow release of the app in the region. The augmented reality mobile game’s beta was made exclusively available in Japan back in March, before spreading to Australia, New Zealand and the US in subsequent months.
This delay according to Niantic and Sony was avoiding server overloading, which was already a big problems even from a smaller gamer population in select countries. The eventual rollout of the Pokemon Go app just became even more hyped up when McDonald\’s sponsored gyms became official.
Gamers who have been eager to wait for the app to go live in the Play store would have to wait between a day and a week longer. With the McDonald\’s deal finally confirmed, Pokemon trainers would be battling out and catching Pokemon while eating some McFries.
